$1 Per Link, How Many Do You Want?

Alex Shalman at Practical Personal Development (a blog about self help and personal growth) is hosting a Donation Contest in which you press a button and he donates a dollar. He will be donating a dollar for every person who links to his blog, up to $500.

Not only is this a great way to spread some money out to charities, but who wouldn’t pay $1 per link, up to 500 links.

I don’t know why he stopped at $500, but I would gladly pay $1 per link up to 10,000 if I could find real blogs with actual posts…$1 per link, that is some smart marketing!

Get 1 Link and Go! Drive By Linking.

In the early 2000’s, a link was a link. Plain and simple, more links, better rankings. But that was 7 years ago. Today, Googlebot is smarter and can learn to hate you. So how can you fix that? Get 1 link per domain and get out of there.

Here is what I mean:

Find a blog you like, leave a comment, find another blog you like.

Or:

Find a site that is relevant, email the webmaster, asking for a link on a certain page, buy a permanent link, and don’t buy any more links from that seller.

With this strategy, you’re protecting your site from Google’s backlash, it is also harder to detect these links because they are in-content, topical, relevant to your industry, in fact almost impossible to detect by a bot.

It is hard to link to these types of pages because they are hard to find. You can look in the comments of most SEO blogs because people usually are looking for links so they hit and run the blog.

There are about 15 blogs that I like enough and find valuable enough to comment on regularly. These blogs I don’t hit and run, but most others I do.

Get a link and go!

Make $400/month with Clickbank?

To be honest, I’ve had a clickbank account for about a year, but have done nothing with it. Every time I look through their eBooks, I leave because the amount of spamish copywriting is overwhelming. Then I read a post like this one from EarnersBlog.com.

Stuart says, “I signed up for a brand new account & decided to see how much money I could make within a month with just Articles, no ppc or paid advertising.”

And then…

Not a massive amount of earnings ($400 for the month) but not bad for about 10 hours in total work. Now If I was to do the same thing month in & month out I’d be growing the number of articles I have online, growing their inbound links using articles & other sources. Eventually I’d have over 240 articles within a year. These will make me money month after month, not just for the month I write them.

So I figured I would look into ClickBank again, but still the spam is overwhelming! This isn’t just the low gravity type of offers, but everywhere. They’re trying to sell the crappiest eBooks with some bad copywriting, then they want you (a reputable webmaster, right?) to resell their ridiculous book about how you can train a dog to do you dishes with 5 easy steps in under 2 days (or your money back).

But the again, if Stuart can make $400 in a month, I know I can as well. Maybe I’ll give it a shot, it would be a fun experiment, and the only con that I see is the time spent writing a few articles and submitting them.

What do you think? Is it possible to earn $400 in 30 days through Clickbank without spending a dime? Would you be interested in trying it with me?

What Would You Do With $100k to Invest Online?

If you were instantly given (not loaned) a Paypal account with $100k that you were forced to spend within 3 months, what would you do?

I’m going to think about it for a day or two then I’ll post a response to my own question. Until then, what would you do with $100k?

Either leave a comment, or a trackback if you post your response on your site. In my later post with my answer, I’ll link to a few of my favorite ideas.

Would you buy a site and spend all the money advertising?
Would you run the worlds largest online contest?
Would you buy a large network of sites?
Would you register a new domain and advertise it?
Would you hire someone famous to work for you for a year?
Would you put it in an ING Direct account (4.5% in savings currently)?

What would you do?
