Where the Magic Happens – My Home Office

So this is my home office…View it and weep! Jealousy is sure to overwhelm you so back up before the tears ruin your keyboard!

For the record, Dave Pitlyuk tagged/pinged/meme’d me in his post about his home office. It’s a mess right now. I don’t feel as bad after checking out Josh Dorkin’s office!

Full Disclosure: I only responded to Dave’s post because I want a ride in his Viper. Just FYI Dave, if you make it to California, you can get a hotel room, and the Viper can stay in my garage.

How To Convert .MOD to .MPEG/.MP4/.MOV/.DV/PSP/iPod

First came Sony with their ridiculous proprietary Memory Stick. Now JVC is using the .MOD format for their HDD movie cameras. I have the JCV Everio GZ-MG130U. I like the camera but using the files is HORRIBLE. First they tell me that I have to buy some $20 MPEG-2 thing from Apple.

I don’t want to spend $20 to convert movie files into something usable so I’m searching high and low to find something. I bought found QuickTime Pro, but that isn’t helping.

UPDATE: Here is a quick how to convert your .mod files to just about any format for FREE!

1. Download ffmpegX (download).

2. Download necessary files. ffmpegX will prompt you and give you the links to the necessary files. I won’t link directly to the downloads incase they change.

3. Put Files (3 total) into a folder.

4. Select location of the files in the ffmpegX window.

5. Drop .MOD into ffmpegX.

6. Select desired format. Usually .MOV or .MP4.

7. Click “Encode”.

8. New file will be where the original file was.

That’s it! Like screenshots? Check out my 1334 Comic Life skillz.

Undergoing a Redesign

I think you’re really going to like the redesigned Brandon-Hopkins.com. Look for it sometime this month hopefully. As I talked about before, I’m focusing on one project a month, and this month is Brandon-Hopkins.com. Next month could be your blog if you’re ready to take it to the next level!

AuctionAds with Negative Keywords

If you haven’t used AuctionAds yet, it’s a pretty cool (blog is decent too), easy to use eBay affiliate. Basically they serve up keyword (you supply the keyword) based eBay auctions based on the keyword you supply.

I added it to this blog about a week ago with the keywords “Make Money Online”. All I got were a bunch of 1 cent listings (scammy stuff) that I knew nobody would buy. I tried “Make Money” and the results were similar.

Then I tried “Website for sale”. The results were much better, but I was getting a lot of adult themed ads. Then I tried “website for sale -adult”, and that seems to be the ticket. Well, at least it works.

I haven’t, however, made any money. 6 cents and 18 clicks. Maybe I need some new keywords.

What do you think would be good keywords for a blog about websites and making money online? Try to think outside the box because the obvious keywords aren’t working.
