Create a WordPress Review Site

I have been thinking about this idea for some time now. The following are some of my thoughts, hopefully they’ll make sense and inspire you to create a review site within WordPress. The whole reason this is even possible is because of the WordPress plugin that Dan Grossman created. Thanks Dan!

Dan’s plugin is still being updated, and can be seen at this webhost review site. Ok, on to my idea.

First, you would want to research a market that would benefit from a review site. Here are a few that come to mind:

eBook reviews (There are thousands of eBooks available.)
Online forum reviews (This could be webmaster, or all forums.)
Scrapbook supply company reviews (Scrapbooking is a huge industry.)
Affiliate company reviews (Affiliate companies usually offer you the ability to refer new affiliates.)
Online bank account reviews (This might be hard to monetize, but the financial sector is very large. You could promote stock buying, financial advice, etc.)

I don’t know which of those would work well, but you could give them a shot. Download WordPress, download Dan’s plugin, and get started!

Make $400/month with Clickbank?

To be honest, I’ve had a clickbank account for about a year, but have done nothing with it. Every time I look through their eBooks, I leave because the amount of spamish copywriting is overwhelming. Then I read a post like this one from EarnersBlog.com.

Stuart says, “I signed up for a brand new account & decided to see how much money I could make within a month with just Articles, no ppc or paid advertising.”

And then…

Not a massive amount of earnings ($400 for the month) but not bad for about 10 hours in total work. Now If I was to do the same thing month in & month out I’d be growing the number of articles I have online, growing their inbound links using articles & other sources. Eventually I’d have over 240 articles within a year. These will make me money month after month, not just for the month I write them.

So I figured I would look into ClickBank again, but still the spam is overwhelming! This isn’t just the low gravity type of offers, but everywhere. They’re trying to sell the crappiest eBooks with some bad copywriting, then they want you (a reputable webmaster, right?) to resell their ridiculous book about how you can train a dog to do you dishes with 5 easy steps in under 2 days (or your money back).

But the again, if Stuart can make $400 in a month, I know I can as well. Maybe I’ll give it a shot, it would be a fun experiment, and the only con that I see is the time spent writing a few articles and submitting them.

What do you think? Is it possible to earn $400 in 30 days through Clickbank without spending a dime? Would you be interested in trying it with me?

What Would You Do With $100k to Invest Online?

If you were instantly given (not loaned) a Paypal account with $100k that you were forced to spend within 3 months, what would you do?

I’m going to think about it for a day or two then I’ll post a response to my own question. Until then, what would you do with $100k?

I Have Too Many Websites, What Do I Do?

Here is my dilemma, I have about 100 active websites. Most are small niche websites, about 85 of them have full sites, the other 15 or so are just domains right now.

13 of them are blogs.

1 is a forum.

71 are static html/php.

So what do I do? I can’t regularly update 13 blogs and could never update 71 static html sites with any kind of regularity. Here are how I see my options and the pros and cons of each choice:

1. Sell most of the sites and refocus on a small group of 2-5.

Pros: If I sell the sites, I won’t stress about trying to update them all of the time. I know if I try to update them all, I’ll fail. Selling would get that monkey off my back. With 2-5 sites, I could definitely write 2-4 posts for each site, every day.

Cons: Some of the sites are valuable as they stand, but most of them are just great targeted domains with huge potential in the future. Most of the domains are 2 years old max, some are really young. Selling now would negate all the time and energy I’ve put in so far.

2. Never update them.

Pros: I’m already doing this. No extra work. I could start this option immediately.

Cons: Won’t make me feel any better about letting the sites stagnate. I’ll still feel inclined to update them semi-regularly (monthly) which won’t help with anything, but makes me feel slightly better.

3. Hire 20 writers to write for all of the sites.

Pros: Sites will be updated.

Cons: Huge initial cost (investment) that I don’t know if I can justify. If I only pay to update 50 of the sites regularly (1 post per day) cost will become prohibitive. 50 sites X $5 per article X 30 days/month = $7500 per month! Not to mention all of the administrative work involved with running such a huge network. Also, paying $5 per article I’ll have a lot of turnover, if I pay more per post it will definitely get too expensive. I don’t know how much income I’ll be able to generate per site, and in the beginning I definitely won’t be breaking even. Most networks with 50 sites have at least a few people on the payroll included graphic designers and coders. I don’t know if I could handle it all.

What else can I do? I need either some votes for my current ideas, or some ideas I haven’t thought of. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
